Introduction to the compensation act 2006

Usually, the issue of mesothelioma legal matters always comes up as due to its cause or form of infectivity. As a well known fact by medical specialists (especially oncologists) and other well knowledgeable people, mesothelioma is contacted by extreme exposure to asbestos. Asbestos, being a material used in building houses and other infrastructure, has an adverse effect on the respiratory system of the human body. When it finds its way to the pleura of the lungs, it causes a cancerous malignancy to develop. This cancerous malignancy is what is called mesothelioma. Since its discovery by the masses, it has had such impact on them and most especially, the builders and other labour related in the use of asbestos.

Ever since the awareness of this anomaly, people have gone to extreme means in bringing a end to it such as , closing up of asbestos factories or even as far as destroying them completely. The governments of the world have tried to stop these anomalies as well as bring about a favourable decision for both sides of the issue. Hence, in 2006, the statutory compensation act was put forth into action. The Compensation Act 2006 received Royal Assent on 25 July 2006. They have been prepared by the Department for Constitutional Affairs in order to assist the reader in understanding the Act. They do not form part of the Act and have not been endorsed by Parliament.

It touched on all areas of the issue of mesothelioma as well as the people involved like the factory workers, mesothelioma patients, those not infected and those naive about the issue. The compensation act addressed issues such as:
